A question about Flyback Tester

Hello again mr Humphrey, i just wanted to ask you a few questions concerning the flyback tester, where exactly does one have to start when assembling it DIY?

First mark the positive rail and negative rail as shown on my pcb…with a sharp object.

Install the ic sockets with reference to my board (counting the holes as you said)

and the LEDs does it matter which way you put cuz it looks like one of the leg is shorter than the other?.

Longer leg of LED is positive and shorter leg is negative…also see the blue color is ground and red color is positive rail on my template

I have on numerous attempts tried to build it but its a bit of a challenge for me to know where i can start and it has left me frustrated as i've got all the part list. I've seen yours and i've tried to build it without soldering first and i noticed the circuit board i've cut it becomes short.

I have noted your circuit doesn’t have any jumper and no track cut…I think that is your main challenge. Please refer to my key given at the bottom of my template and it will guide you.

Tip. If a component is placed in series with the track like you have the LED then you must cut the middle hole so that the current will travel through the LED otherwise it will create a short.

Again below the ic we have opposite pin in series and therefore should also be separated to avoid shorting the two pins… hope you can now get the concept.

This circuit is very straight forward and should always work first time if you follow the instructions.

So mr Humphrey how does one test a good dvd motor if its a good working one cuz i did test it only when i got to my workshop and it was reading 7hms on DMM?

For Dvd motors I think 5 ohms to 20 ohms is ok..Most of them range between 7 ohms and 12 ohms.
For testing DVD motor use analogue meter set to x1 and if all is well the motor will spin very fast and smoothly.

Regards Humphrey
